We're getting all our paperwork ready to send in to
Guinness World Record Office. Wendy flew home to Atlanta, GA this
morning. We all miss her already. We have been busy since our
Record setting, so riding as taken a slight back seat. I will go for a ride
in a few hours with Eric and Rich from Zumwalt's. We leave at 7am, do
come and ride with us.

Message From Wendy...
Hi everyone,
Pete and I just
completed another adventure. I flew out to San Diego where Pete & I
broke the Guinness World Record for stationary bike riding. We surpassed
the previous record of 85 hours, and rode for 96 hours, 4 minutes, 8
seconds!
In 4 days, we slept a total of 4 hours,
2 minutes, and we were off the bike a total of 7 1/2 hours, where the
allotted time off was 8 hours (5 minutes each hour). The cool thing was
that we had a massage therapist/acupuncturist who worked on our aching
legs and back whenever we needed his help. And we had a caterer down the
street who brought us the best food three times a day! And he didn't
just bring food for me & Pete, he brought food to feed 15 to 20 people!
It was crazy!!! I'm working on an article of the event that will include
pictures that I'll send you when it's done.
Pete & I were on the KGTV ch10 and KUSI ch9 TV stations in San Diego, along with Mix 92.5,
a Canadian radio station (CJAD), KNX1070 news radio (Los Angeles), Yahoo News, UPI, and a
newspaper in Iowa, and still more articles are popping up as are the
radio interviews.

Since Pete's birthday was Sunday, I got
him a chocolate cake that was presented to him while we were riding our
final hour. Well, he decided to smear the chocolate on my face, and a
food fight erupted between both of us. So the pic on the front page of
the San Diego Tribune's "Our Region" section has us with chocolate all
over our face!
We ended our ride
strong, and could've kept going. But we stopped on 96:04:08 because of a
numbers game Pete figured out. We rode from 4-4 to 4-8, Pete's birthday
was 4-8 where he turned 48, Pete's been riding for 8 years, I've been
riding for 4 years, his first name has 4 letters, my last name has 8
letters, and we stopped at 96 hours because it is 48 twice. Weird stuff!
Pete & I used this event as a fundraiser for our charities (San Diego
Burn Institute, Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation) and for a training
ride for the Race Across America that we're doing in June. Attached is a
flyer for a $6,000 bike we're raffling off for $50 raffle tickets. Only
200 tickets will be sold. The drawing will be done by the owners of
Zumwalt's Bicycle Center in San Diego who are supplying us the bike.
We won't be officially recognized by Guinness World Records until after
they have received and reviewed all of our paperwork. Enjoy the article
and pics. I'm back in Atlanta now and glad to be off a spin bike!
WIN A $6,000 ROAD BIKE
Also, we're raffling a $6,000 Giant road bike. Tickets are $50 and only
200 will be sold. Please pass along this info to anyone you think is
interested, or is feeling lucky!

Proceeds will benefit the San Diego Burn Institute and help with our
expenses for the Race Across America, a 3,000-mile bicycle race we're
doing this June. (www.raceacrossamerica.org)

He heard that we love to eat Kentucky Fried Chicken when we're on long
rides, so he and Liz brought us some! I was so GOOD! I felt bad,
because inside of me, I was thinking.... OK, please leave so we can devour
this chicken! We did hold off from eating and enjoyed their company.
Just so you know, Chris held the youngest RAAM finisher for almost 20 years
and was just broken! He is awesome! Liz is an endurance cyclist
and one to watch out for!
